The board that starts as a cheese course and ends as the centerpiece nobody clears away. Cut from long-grain acacia with its warm honey grain running the length, it is long enough for a spread and handsome enough to leave out. Season it now and then to keep the wood fed. Hand-wash and dry flat; never soak.
